Carecells

My carecell helped throughout my daughter’s hospital stay
A testimony by May Tan

Sometime last year, my daughter had a high fever. My carecell members came to my house to pray for her. When the fever did not subside after five days, I decided to take my daughter to the hospital. That night, without me asking, our carecell leaders Joshua and Naomi took the initiative to drive us to the hospital and even stayed with us at the hospital until my daughter was sent to the ward around 2am.

During our stay at the hospital, the carecell members came to pray for us, encouraged us and even bought me food. What they did really touched my heart. It reminded me of what the Lord had said in Matthew 25: “When you do it for the least of my brothers, you are doing it for Me”.

On the day my daughter was discharged, our carecell hosts Victor and Gillian came to fetch us home. On our

way home, our leader Naomi called to say that she would cook my family’s dinner that evening and that her husband would send the food to my house.

My family felt very blessed by the carecell. Without them, I would have found it very difficult to go through this ordeal. No words can express our gratitude for their kindness and selflessness. I thank God for our carecell leaders Joshua Saw and his wife Naomi, carecell hosts Victor and Gillian, and our Sectional Leader Malathy. To God be the glory!

My Experience in CareCell
A testimony by Tay Hing Heng

After I received the Lord as my Savior, I started attending church services with my wife, but I did not grow much until I started to attend a carecell. It was through knowing my carecell members that I started to grow spiritually. I was blessed with carecell leaders who often prayed for me and gave me words of encouragement and affirmation. The carecell members encouraged me by sharing their struggles and breakthroughs. They taught me the meaning of perseverance in walking the path of God, however difficult it can be. I began to understand what it meant to nurture a personal relationship as a son with my Heavenly Father.

In the Carecell, I have a Spiritual Parent. His willingness to spend time to share the Word of God with me has caused me to grow at a speed that has surprised many. Through my spiritual parent, I have learned to lean on the Word of the Lord and to give thanks for every little blessing that is showered upon me and my family.

Carecells and Spiritual Parents are undoubtedly an essential key in enhancing one’s spiritual growth. I always thought that the Bible was ‘a great storybook’ - and without any guidance, it would have remained as such, with no personal meaning or application.

I thank God for my carecell. A spiritual family will boost your spirit when you get tired of fighting battles alone. “RAMBO” is only an imaginary character in a fi lm. A spiritual family will stand together with you to fi ght your war, with God as the Commander in Chief. With that force of unity in prayer and support, with the understanding of who we are in Christ and the authority we have, the powers of darkness cannot prevail in our lives and situations. All Praise to Him! Amen!

This is life in Trinity!
A testimony by Cally Koh

When I was not in a carecell, I sat alone in service most of the time. God sent a few people to give me godly counsel about being part of a spiritual family. I visited a few cells but had difficulty choosing one. One day, I decided to obey God. I told God that I would commit myself to give and not just focus on receiving. So I settled into a carecell in July 2007. Life has been really exciting and eventful ever since! Since joining a carecell, I have had so many first-times:

I went for my Spiritual Parenting course and for the fi rst time, I was equipped to make disciples for God. (Previously, when I got anyone saved, I always “handed them over” to a friend to do the follow-up).
My first time going handbill saturation was for Power Weekend. I was hesitant initially. Thankfully, we went in pairs and my partner was bold. Many thoughts were going through my mind, such as, what if these people just walk past me? I was so embarrassed and fearful of rejection. But God is good. The first person we approached gave us her mobile phone number. She came to the Power Weekend and rededicated her life to Jesus!
This person who came for Power Weekend has been in our carecell ever since. She is now being nurtured by me – my first spiritual baby after ten years of being a Christian!
I am always looking for fishes now! Even eating dinner or playing tennis can turn into a a ministry opportunity. Just last Saturday, our carecell was playing tennis and a guy walked into the court. Then I realised I booked Court 2 but we were playing at Court 1. It turned
out that this guy was alone and he was looking for people to play with. So without wasting time, we invited him to our cell Christmas party. This is life in Trinity!
Trinity is great in training up leaders. Through the carecell, I have come to know many godly leaders who care and connect with me, and whom I can emulate – my sectional leaders, my carecell leaders, my carecell members.
Our carecell has just multiplied in November and I have opened my home to host the new carecell. Another first for me!

God knows when to encourage us, when to give us a push and when we are ready to do more. What He needs from us is our availability and obedience. A year ago, in January 2007, I remember putting down these 2 goals and resolutions for the New Year: (1) To rejoice in the Lord always, and (2) To settle down in a church and carecell. I thank God for answering my prayers so specifi cally. I really feel His love for me and want to share this special love to as many as I can. I look forward to a year of equipping myself to serve Him more.

Cared for and Connected!
By Danny Chong

When my family shifted to the south of Singapore, we decided to attend Trinity as it was nearer to our home. During our first year here, we felt a little lost as we hardly knew anyone. I told my wife that joining a cell group might be a good idea so that we could feel more at home. I even prayed that God would use us to serve the church in whatever ways possible. But upon realising that the carecells in Trinity meet every week, we KIV-ed the idea because in our previous church, the cells met only fortnightly and sometimes had “long breaks”. Hence we remained un-celled and inactive for 3 years.

When my dad passed away, we decided to call Trinity to help out in the funeral preparations. To our surprise, Trinity Christian Centre was more than willing to help. I was very touched that they were so gracious as to provide a pastor and carecell members to minister to us and to connect us to carecell. My wife and I agreed to join a carecell for a start.

In the carecell, we received a lot of “care and connect”. Many Trinitarians did care acts for us. Our carecell leader took the time to care and pray for us. The pastors relentlessly believed in us and did not give up on us. Today, we are now serving as spiritual parents in the carecell. I am also conducting some Life Skills Seminars for Trinity. I am thankful that God has given us the opportunity to serve Him in Trinity. We are thankful to be connected and a part of the Trinity Family!
