1. I feel inadequate; I’m not ready; I’m not good enough.
2. I have a fear of praying for people and sharing the gospel.
3. I am not good with children, at acting in skits, singing, worship leading and I have stage fright.
4. I don’t have the expertise needed.
5. I cannot fluently speak their language.
6. I do not have enough money for this trip; I have other financial commitments.
7. I am too busy; I do not have enough leave to take for a trip.
8. I have no energy to go; I am too old to be part of a MIT.
9. I am a Trinitarian but am not part of a Trinity Carecell; not a church member; not a Spiritual Parent.
10. I cannot travel due to health reasons.
1. I feel inadequate; I’m not ready; I’m not good enough.
- God is not looking for someone perfect. Rick Warren once said, “If God only used perfect people, nothing would get done”
- Offer to God everything that you are and whatever little you have – your five loaves and two fish; the miracle is His to work
- Training will be provided through a TENet course.
2. I have a fear of praying for people and sharing the gospel.
- It is the anointing that makes the difference; as you step out in faith, God’s grace will bring about miracles
- Training will be provided through a TENet course
- Many team members who’ve had little or no experience in praying for people and sharing the gospel stepped and witnessed for themselves the miracles of God.
3. I am not good with children, at acting in skits, singing, worship leading and I have stage fright.
- As long as you are willing to go, God will use you to touch lives
- There are two types of MIT: Humanitarian and Evangelism
- Humanitarian efforts include building houses, digging of bore wells, building sanitation facilities, distributing food supplies and necessities, and helping out at medical camps
- Evangelism efforts include partnering with local churches to visit homes, pray for the sick, minister to the children and youth, encourage the people and share God’s love through skits and testimonies
- Within each MIT, these are broadly the spectrum of roles one can also serve in: journalist, treasurer, photographer, logistics I/C, prayer I/C and first-aider.
4. I don’t have the expertise needed.
E.g. - I’m not a doctor so I can’t go for medical missions; - I have no knowledge in construction so I can’t help build houses/wells/toilets…
- Most of the team members that were involved in medical missions were not medically-trained. There are many other vital roles needed on such trips, such as in dispensing medicine, controlling the crowd and providing security.
- None of our teams that built houses were in the construction line.
5. I cannot fluently speak their language.
- Language is no barrier! The language of love transcends race and nationality
- Team members who could not speak the local language were still able to minister effectively
- Simple conversational lines will be taught during the training.
6. I do not have enough money for this trip; I have other financial commitments.
7. I am too busy; I do not have enough leave to take for a trip.
- The 2011 trips have been penned out for the year ahead. Prioritize and plan your leave early
- Present your schedules and commitments to Him
- As you honor God with your time, you will relish in the priceless rewards of serving Him! What you will receive far outweighs what you give.
8. I have no energy to go; I am too old to be part of a MIT.
- Age is no barrier! Read the testimony of a 77–year-old housewife who went on page 53 of Trinitarian Magazine Issue 1/2010
- At our weakest moments, we can draw upon His strength.
9. I am a Trinitarian but am not part of a Carecell; not a church member; not a Spiritual Parent.
- Any Trinitarian who is willing to be used by God can sign-up to be involved in Missions.
10. I cannot travel due to health reasons.
- You can be involved in missions without traveling overseas:
- Be part of a MIT that, in partnership with our language ministries, will minister to the Filipinos, Indonesians and Thais in Singapore
- Be part of efforts to bless the needy in Singapore through Care Community Services Society (CCSS)
- You can also play a vital role as a prayer partner to MITs.
